The circuit below is a Class A amplifier.

It is used to amplify alternating current signals which go to an 8 W loudspeaker.  It is connected to a supply voltage of 6.0 V DC.

(a)

What are the capacitors there for?

(b)

What is the base-emitter voltage?  Explain what effect this has on the transistor.

(c)

The collector-emitter voltage is about 0.2 V.  Show that the collector-emitter current is about 22 mA.

(d)

The base current is 4 mA.  What is the current gain of this amplifier?
