Electronics is about
getting electricity to do more interesting things.
The tutorials in these pages will take you through the
basic concepts of Electronics. The content is based on the old AQA
AS Electronics syllabus and a course that I taught at Level 3 Access.
The notes are designed for Physics students in their first year at
university who have never done any electronics before. In my
opinion, Physics without Electronics is a bit like cheese without Jacobs
- unthinkable! However, if you are reading these notes because you
are keen on electronics as a hobby and simply want to find out the
physics behind the components, then you are most welcome.
Either way, I hope you find the notes helpful. The
tutorials consist of the background theory that most people will want to
know. There is extension material for a more in depth discussion.
There is a button to access this at the bottom of the page.
I have assumed that you are familiar with Basic
Electricity, without which the subject will not make sense. So you
need to be aware of the ideas of resistive transducers, resistors,
variable resistors, and series and parallel circuits. |
